What you'll learn
At the end of the course, students would be able to explain what chemical engineers do, to know that chemical engineering is a broad and versatile discipline involved in designing and producing a vast array of Products.
The course will prepare them for the challenges of today and tomorrow by presenting unto them a step by step approach to the skills needed to solve chemical engineering problems, including quantitative problem topics, material balances, carefully tailored to a level appropriate for beginners, fundamentals of chemical reaction engineering which will introduce them to reacting and non-reacting systems, and using what they have learnt to make engineering decisions.
OBJECTIVES:
Have an overview of how Chemical Engineering evolved as a discipline
Learn the diverse roles chemical engineers play in the society
Understand the main goals of Chemical Process Engineering and the metrics used to quantify these goals.
Recognise different types of Chemical Processes.
Gain basic knowledge of safety practices as they relate to industrial settings.
